Giving

At St Giles giving takes many forms – from the volunteers who run our coffee mornings, people who give up their time to clean the church, through to the money that is given to build our mission and ministry in our community. Giving is a response to God’s generosity, and whether you can give time, money, expertise, prayer or encouragement you are giving not only to the church, but to God.

Below are some of the ways that you can give to the life and work of the church:

Volunteering

Nearly all of the activities at St Giles’ are run by volunteers. These include:

  • Little Light’s Baby and Toddler Group
  • Coffee Morning Team
  • If you would like to volunteer at St Giles’ we would love to hear from you. Contact either the Vicar or the Parish Office through the contact page here.

All our volunteers who work with children, young people or vulnerable adults are subject to DBS checks. We have safeguarding policies in place to keep our community safe and secure.

Financial Giving

St Giles is able to deliver the mission and ministry of the church thanks to the generous contributions of its church members. There are many ways to give regularly to St Giles or to send a one-off donation.

Parish Giving Scheme

St Giles joined the Parish Giving Scheme in November 2018. The scheme is a new way of financial giving to church by direct debit and is reliable, safe and secure.  If you are interested in joining the scheme, please pick up a Parish Giving Scheme pack at the back of church or contact the treasurer. Andrew Moss is the Parish Giving Representative so if you’re unsure of how to sign up or would like more information, please let him know. For more information visit: https://www.parishgivingscheme.org.uk/

Standing Order

Through your bank: Please download and complete the Standing Order form and return to your bank.

Through online banking: You can also set up a Standing Order through online banking with the details on the Standing Order form

Weekly Envelopes

You can take a pack of numbered giving envelopes which we provide. These enable us to claim an additional sum from the HMRC – 25% of what you give – if you are a UK taxpayer (see below).

During Services & In church

A collection is offered at all services and there are wooden plates as you come in for this purpose as well as donation boxes.

Online Donation

You can give online through our Just Giving page

Tax-efficient giving (Gift Aid)

If you pay UK tax (Income or Capital Gains Tax) and would like us to be able to claim back the basic rate tax, you will need to fill in, sign and return to us an ongoing Gift Aid Declaration if you have not done so already. The benefit to St Giles’ is that we can recover the basic rate of income tax, currently 25p for each £1 given. (If you pay higher rate tax, you may recover this through your own tax return.)

If you have any questions about giving to St Giles or other ways of giving, please e-mail our Treasurer:
